Last night, I was lucky enough to be able to speak at LOPSA Rhode Island, a proto-LOPSA chapter that Adam Codega has been starting.
It was a really good time. Adam's employer, Swipely has a headquarters that instantly makes you feel like you're a couple thousand miles to the west, in Silicon Valley. Not only is all of their furniture modern yet comfortable, they've got the requisite free food and drinks, network LCD displays everywhere, and a bunch of really nice people working for them. If you're in the area, definitely check out one of the LOPSA-RI meetings there.
My talk focused on user interactions, and how we can make them less miserable for them and for us. It was the first time I'd delivered the talk, and my goal is to hone it for my talk at SpiceWorld in Austin. Here's a picture Adam took of my title slide:
Yes, that's Austin Powers, and no, I'm not going to apologize for it. It was awesome. I mean groovy, baby. Yeah!
Anyway, it was a great time, and Adam (and his co-consipirator, Cole Lavallee) are doing a terrific job of building a really nice community. I thank them for inviting me down to speak, and I hope it's something that I can do again some time.
