Recently i was writing up a presentation for work and was looking for a comic image to add to my presentation. In my days with the Federal Government I used to get a periodical called Government Computer News. Inside it was a cartoon a creation of Rich Tennant (http://www.the5thwave.com/content/about-rich-tennant) The feature was called the 5th Wave. (http://www.the5thwave.com). So I fired up my browser and did a search for the 5th wave. I was shocked to find pictures of an Independance day movie called The 5th Wave (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2304933/)
Did the movie people even Google 5th Wave to see if there was an issue. Rich copyrights his cartoons. I guess I can call him Rich as I did meet him once and have an autographed copy of one of his books. I also tried to get him to be the keynote speaker for LOPSA-East (well it was PICC at the time).
I did go to see the movie and it was a typical Alien invasion movie where a race of aliens that has the technology to build spacecrafts that are the size of Texas and hover without destroying everything underneath it but still is vulnerable to slug from a 45 pistol. Amazing.
As I sat in the theater I could not help but think if Rich Tennant wrote the movie. There would have been scenes where a bumbling computer tech stumbles on a way to thwart the enemy when he makes a few typos while reconfiguring his puppet server and his outgoing script gets into the aliens networks and crashes their entire network.
