It has been two years and it has gone by very quickly. The link to my 2012 statement is here

When I ran for the board i was pushing for Education and the Mentorship program. So I became the liaison for the Board to the Mentorship Program. It has been a very informative two years. Shortly into my term I took over the secretarys job and have been a very busy person catching up.

In every organization you have people that do some job to keep things moving forward. As a member of the Board you have to resist the urge to raise your hand and say "I will do that or this" but you should be saying "i will get someone to do that." The Board has been striving to get to that point. We want to get more of the members involved into the running of the organization.

As the secretary I spent my first month or so in that position going over past minutes and getting them in line on the governance web site. It was a large task but I was finally able t get the minutes updated on the site so you as members could keep up with the boards activities.

My latest tasks has been to work hard to keep the Mentorship programming moving along and getting stronger. My job as Mentorship Liaison to the Board I have strived to remove any road blocks that would hinder the advancement of the program. I think I have been instrumental in helping them get the resources they needed to make the recent changes to the program which have helped make the program one of the most succesful programs LOPSA has started.

The biggest asset I bring to the board is my years of training and experience with organization. As a Manager for the Defense Department I was trained in many aspects of organizing groups and teams. Outside of work I have been involved in volunteer organizations since the early 70's when I first started with a local Citizens Band Radio Group which helped raise funds for the handicapped. I worked on that board until the Club disbanded when Citizen band Radio use faded with the proliferation of Cell Phones. I served as an officer of a Local Youth Football League in South Jersey for over 10 years growing that league from 16 organizations to 26 organizations when I stepped down as President.

I bring those years of organization skills to the LOPSA Board. Two years goes by so quick that you just barely learn the lay of the land. I am hoping to be reelected to be able to continue what I have started. Lately I have become more active in our WiAC initiative. An initiative that is a vital part of LOPSA. Just recently I sat through a Keynote at LOPSA-East 2014 where the speaker spoke about diversity in our field. As I scanned the audience I saw the audience was not a diverse group. Ethnically maybe but not Gender wise. I would like to help raise the identity of LOPSA to make it more of a diverse group through my efforts on the board.
