Publishing for fun

So, yesterday I published a book via Amazon's direct publishing program for the first time.  It's fiction, has absolutely nothing to do with system administration, but it works for me.  I consider it a pointer to how sometimes a project can take a very long time.  I worked on this book for around twenty years.

What was interesting to me is how the direct publishing process worked.  It was surprisingly easy to set up, but there were some factors that seemed odd to me.  For example, doc/docx are preferred input formats, PDF is a reluctant support option only, and there is no support for ODF.  Raw text of course was supported.  I expected the doc/docx support, but did not expect PDF being not well supported, though in retrospect that makes sense.

Not providing a direct link unless people actually ask for it.  This is about the process of publishing, not just an ad for the work.
