JOB PURPOSE
The Network Administrator, under general supervision, is to provide administration duties that combine the day-to-day user support, software/hardware installation, and problem resolution/monitoring of desktops, PBX, server, and network resources. This person maintains a clear focus on the operation of the ES Department and is responsible for the smooth functioning of all hardware, software, peripherals, and network infrastructure necessary to provide efficient and effective computer resources to all departments and their employees. Due to the sensitive nature of much of the information processed by this position, a high degree of integrity and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide 2nd and 3rd tier LAN/WAN/TELECOM support and maintenance to troubleshoot end user connectivity problems of all complexity, often requiring in-depth examination and extensive research.
· Designs and configures an enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements.
· Help evaluate, design, analyze, and maintain all transport and telecommunications systems for new and existing sites.
· Help select, develop, support, and implement network standards, processes and security to maintain corporate standards and industry best practices.
· Analyze symptoms for accurate isolation of customer and network problems.
· Provide detailed analysis of network security and data integrity protection against internal and external threats.
· Create, update, and audit all network and telecommunications documentation.
· Coordinate with System Manager to provide end-user training, one on ones or in small groups for purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of business units.
· Provide leadership to other technicians in managing events in a Help Desk environment, acting as a mentor to technician level Help Desk employees.
· Provide system pricing and ordering assistance as required and initiate order activity with vendors via corporate purchasing standards.
· Resolve trouble tickets as assigned to provide exceptional customer service.
· Weekly reporting of all work activity to the System Manager.
· Develop, maintain, and communicate project plans and status updates.
· Support installation of development and test infrastructures for internal department testing and research.
· Provide 24x7x365 technical support via on-call duties, as required.
· Occasional travel to remote sites and client facilities.
Secondary Job Functions:
· Recommend purchase of equipment to control dust, temperature, and humidity in area of system installation.
· Write software and hardware evaluation and recommendation for management review.
· Research alternate approaches to existing software and hardware when standardized approaches cannot be applied.
· Conduct feasibility studies, design analysis, and cost comparisons to enable future integration of network systems and hardware.
· Assist in presenting updates and information on departmental activities at management meetings.
· Provide assistance to other departments with required activities when surge workload or an unexpected shortage of manpower occurs.
· Meets with vendor representatives to establish enhanced relationships and new vendor possibilities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business, or related field required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Experience: Five years experience in LAN/WAN and telecommunications environments. Must have in-depth knowledge of the following:
· Cisco routers/switches
· TCP/IP protocols
· LAN/WAN infrastructures and routing
· EIGRP
· BGP
· Spanning Tree Protocol
· VLAN Trunking Protocol
· Configure, Test and Implement Cisco Call Manager and Cisco IP Voice Solutions using Cisco Gateways & Gatekeepers
· Knowledge of Telecomm Circuits (DS1s, PRIs, OC3, OC12) and communication equipment configuration
· Firewall and security technologies using VPN, NAC, and MARS
· Telecommunication knowledge must also include Cisco Call Manager, VoIP, H.323, SIP, MPLS, and other WAN communication protocols
· Video solutions experience a plus (Polycom, Tandberg)
· Design and implementation of wireless networks
· Fluency in English is required
