My First Code Putback in OpenSolaris

I’ve spent the last four years working on classes to complete my BSBA and my MBA, and I just realized exactly how much time it had taken. My classes are winding down; last night I turned in my last paper, and next Wednesday is the last night of class.

I’ve been feeling a bit melancholy about it recently, and decided now that I’ll have all that time back, I needed to fill it up… at least some of it. My wife and children (especially our upcoming third one) will kill me if they don’t get some of that time.

I’ve been keeping track of the OpenSolaris community, and a recent posting about the “bite size bugs”:http://www.opensolaris.org/os/bug_reports/oss_bite_size/ caught my attention. It has been a long time since I did any C coding, and I thought it might be interesting to play around with some of these small bugs.

I just saw “posted”:http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=8269&tstart=0 that my code change (small, it is) will be integrated into Nevada Build 40. I’ve got one other that is going through code review right now, and a couple of others that are waiting on Sun Engineering Sponsors to pick them up. If you are a Sun Engineer Sponsor, or know someone who is, ask them to pick up my requests!
