Striking while the iron’s luke warm…

It’s easy to strike while the iron’s hot.

It’s easy to leave a conference and decide that it’s time you really should implement that stable configuration management, or that full featured monitoring solution. I already have a dozen items that I want to get done, but will probably only accomplish 2 or 3(if I’m lucky). And after a few months, I’m going to have forgotten a few of them, discarded a few of them, and gotten annoyed that I haven’t had a chance to do the rest.

Despite that, I believe you have to renew that. (Talk to Tom L if you wonder about the need for renewal). Otherwise, you’ll fall behind or fall disinterested. So you gotta keep it going.

“Year long hallway track” – it’s one of the title quotes for LOPSA – and it’s a good start. It’s definitely got the renewal idea. But why limit it to the hallway track? Yes, a lot of what happens in the conference is the connection game, and I certainly do not want to dismiss the important of it, but it’s not all there is. Seeing new ideas and new techniques – very good also.

I guess what I’m really saying is that we don’t need to limit it to one dimension. We need to keep all of the dimensions going all of the time.
